Ousted Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad issued his first statement since fleeing the country. He, in particular, said that he was in Damascus until the morning of December 8 and left the country only in the evening and that he never thought about resignation or escape. The statement was published by Assad's office on social networks.
In his address, the dictator assures that he had no plans to leave the country. They say that he was in Damascus until December 8, but under the pressure of the rebels, “in coordination with Russian allies,” he was forced to cross to Latakia to the Khmeimim airbase, from where he observed the events.
“Upon arrival at Hmeimim air base that morning, it became clear that our forces had completely withdrawn from all combat lines, and the last army positions had fallen,”…
