Belgium was the first in the world to legislate the right to sick leave, maternity pay and pensions for sex workers. The Guardian reports this.
The Belgian parliament passed a law granting sex workers standard social protection rights in May. On December 1, the law came into force and Belgian prostitutes now have the same employment contracts and legal protections as in any other job.
