Chernobyl frogs have adapted to survive in conditions of high radiation,
Radiation levels in the exclusion zone are no longer sufficient to cause chronic damage to wildlife.
New research has shown that for the eastern tree frog (Hyla orientalis), radiation levels in the Chernobyl exclusion zone appear to be quite acceptable. According to IFLScience, chronic environmental exposure did not affect their lifespan, stress or aging.
“I do think that the levels of radiation currently present in the Chernobyl exclusion zone are not sufficient to cause noticeable damage to organisms in the wild, at least in most areas of Chernobyl.
