The Fan Zhou 8 underwent a series of tests in the waters east of Shanghai.
China tested the new Fan Zhou 8 flat-deck cargo ship with a lifting capacity of 58 thousand tons. It is capable of operating in polar waters, reports the South China Morning Post.
The publication noted that on December 24, the Fan Zhou 8 vessel returned to the dock of the Taizhou Zhonghang shipyard in Zhejiang province after a series of tests in the waters east of Shanghai.
Journalists shared that the new vessel has high seaworthiness and complies with the requirements of the Polar Code. The ship is 256 meters long and 51 meters wide. In addition, Fan Zhou 8 has a cruising range of 16 thousand nautical miles (29,632 kilometers – UNIAN), and a maximum speed of more than 15 knots (27.78 km/h – UNIAN).
