In his opinion, the figure of 160 thousand people, which was announced by the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, is divorced from reality.
The head of the “Come Back Alive” foundation, ATO veteran Taras Chmut, believes that for effective defense Ukraine needs to mobilize about 500 thousand people.
In an interview with DW, he was asked to comment on the statement of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council about the need to recruit 160 thousand more Ukrainians. “Our brigade may be 50% staffed. And if you ask the battalion commander how many riflemen and infantry directly, then the company may have 15 people, 20 people, 25 people. But on paper there seem to be a lot of people. Your headquarters is staffed, rear, communications, drones, snipers, scouts, some artillery, mortars and so on, but no infantry,” Chmut answered.
