In 2024, the date of the Nativity of Christ will change due to the church's transition to the New Julian calendar.
Every winter, believers celebrate the Nativity of Christ – the most important Christian holiday of the year, dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem. According to the Bible, on this day a bright star lit up in the sky, which notified Christians of the birth of the Messiah.
Christmas in Ukraine has many long-standing folk traditions. On the night before Christmas Eve, it is customary to prepare 12 meatless dishes. And for the celebration itself, Ukrainians sing carols, set up a Christmas nativity scene and invite their relatives to visit. For many centuries, Christmas traditions have remained unchanged, but its date has changed due to the church's transition to the New Julian calendar.
