Classic sponge cake – quick recipe with berry filling – UNIAN

Victoria sponge cake is often prepared with berry jam and fluffy buttercream. Although this is a very simple pastry, it delights with its exquisite taste.
“This is a Victoria sponge cake that I've been making for decades… I don't recommend making it ahead of time as it goes stale quickly. As with many simple pleasures, just enjoy it now,” says food critic and chef Nigella Lawson.
This recipe makes eight to ten pieces. For preparation you will need:
- butter – 225 g;
- powdered sugar – 225 g;
- vanilla extract – 1 tsp.
- flour – 200 g;
- corn flour – 25 g;
- baking powder – 2.5 tsp.
- salt – a pinch;
- eggs – 4 pcs;
- milk – 2-3 tbsp.
