Tomorrow, December 27, in the Orthodox calendar the day of commemoration of the holy apostle, protomartyr and archdeacon Stephen.Stephan was of Jewish descent, probably from the Diaspora, since his name is Greek. He was one of the first seven deacons chosen by the apostles to serve in the Jerusalem Church. Deacons helped in distributing alms and caring for the poor, and also participated in the preaching of the Gospel.
