Putin doesn't understand that Trump is not intimidated like Biden, but Trump doesn't understand Putin's determination to destroy Ukraine.
Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin seriously underestimate each other, and this carries large-scale risks for Ukraine. The former head of British intelligence, Sir Alex Younger, spoke about this in a commentary to The Independent and was confirmed by some former diplomats.
“I think Trump is overestimating his ability to force Putin into a land swap where Putin clearly wants much more when he feels he will win and when he has to show [российскому народу] much more if he wants to justify the terrible sacrifices he has made. Trump underestimates the challenge and overestimates his influence,” says Younger.
