Dried fruit concoction: a recipe for a traditional Christmas Eve drink
Uzvar is one of the 12 dishes on the Christmas Eve table.
Uzvar – dried fruit compote with added honey or sugar is considered one of the oldest drinks. In addition, it is the main and important part of the meal on Holy Eve and Christmas.

Ingredients
- 3 liters of water
- 200 g of dried apples
- 100 g of dried pears
- 100 g of prunes
- 100 g of raisins
- 50 g of dried apricots
- 50 g of figs
- a few pieces of cloves
- honey to taste
Preparation
1. Place the dried fruit in a colander and rinse thoroughly under running water. Then put them in a saucepan and pour three liters of water. Cook over low heat for 30 minutes with the lid on.
2. Turn off the heat and add the cloves. Mix well and leave the concoction to cool.
