Elections in Croatia – the pro-Russian president was re-elected for a new term – UNIAN

In Croatia, on December 29, the first round of presidential elections was held, in which the current head of the country, Zoran Milanovic, known for his pro-Russian views, won. According to the exit polls, he has already won more than 50% of the votes (according to various polls – from 51.48 to 50.7%). Thanks to this, he can win in the first round.

Meanwhile, it is known that the HDZ candidate Dragan Primorac is gaining just over 19% of the votes.

The president in Croatia cannot veto laws, but has a say in matters of foreign policy, defense and security. He is also formally the supreme commander of the armed forces.
