According to the results of counting more than 99.9 percent of the ballots in the Romanian presidential election in the first round, 62-year-old right-wing radical Kelin Georgescu won. The Times reports this.
Georgescu, who supports the regime of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and claims that an “imperialist” military-industrial complex is behind the war in Ukraine, received about 22.9 percent of the vote, according to the publication.
In turn, pro-Western candidates Elena Lasconi and Marcel Ciolaku received approximately 19 percent of the votes.
