Hungarian intelligence spied on European Union officials who visited the country, searching their hotel rooms and recording their telephone conversations. This is evidenced by the results of a joint investigation by the Hungarian media center Direkt36 and the Belgian publication De Tijd, Politico reports.
Journalists learned that employees of the Hungarian Information Directorate (analogous to the Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate – UNIAN) searched hotel rooms where EU officials stayed and recorded their telephone conversations.
