A 20-year-old Vietnamese sailor fell from a cargo ship into the open sea but miraculously survived, swimming for 19 hours before being rescued.

This is reported by the Daily Mail.

A crew member fell from the bulk carrier Double Delight at 11.30pm on Thursday 7 November while the vessel was off the coast of Newcastle, Australia. The man swam desperately through the night and most of Friday before being rescued by other sailors.

It has now emerged that the man was first spotted by two fishermen on Friday afternoon, who picked him up on board their small vessel a considerable distance from the Double Delight.

Glen Waller, one of the rescuers, turned out to be a doctor and began to provide medical assistance to the exhausted man.
