Ex-Manchester City player becomes President of Georgia – Football

Former player of the Georgian national football team Mikheil Kavelashvili became the President of Georgia, Sports.kz reports with reference to championat.com.
224 out of 300 deputies voted for the candidate. Kavelashvili, a member of the Power of the People party nominated by the ruling Georgian Dream party, was the only candidate in the elections.
Kavelashvili played for Alania Vladikavkaz, Manchester City, Dynamo Tbilisi, Grasshopper, Zurich, Lucerne, Sion, Aarau and Basel. As a striker for the Georgian national team, Mikheil Kavelashvili scored nine goals in 46 matches. He completed his sports career in 2006.
