Tea lovers are in for some bad news: by the end of the year, the price of black tea bags may rise by 7-10%. The reason is Russia’s dependence on tea imports: only 20% of the raw materials for production are grown here, the rest has to be purchased abroad.
The unstable geopolitical situation, problems with logistics and unfavorable weather conditions have already led to an increase in prices for imported tea. For example, tea prices from India could rise by 20% due to drought.
Black tea bags will rise in price the most. Elite varieties of green tea, pu-erh and oolong will rise in price more slowly, by a maximum of 5%.
Russia is one of the five leading countries in tea consumption, where 98% of the population prefers this drink. More than 85% of Russians drink black tea, 10% drink green tea, and about 1% drink herbal teas.
