Fico threatened to stop the supply of electricity to Ukraine — World
The Slovak prime minister called the termination of transit of Russian gas through Ukraine an extremely expensive “political gesture”.
Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico said that his government will consider stopping the supply of backup electricity to Ukraine if Kyiv stops the transit of Russian gas to Europe.
He said this in a video message published on the evening of Friday, December 27, on the Facebook social network.
“After January 1, 2025, when the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine should be stopped, the Slovak government will assess the situation and the possibilities of taking retaliatory measures against Ukraine. If necessary, stop the supply of electricity, which Ukraine desperately needs, or agree on another course of action,” he said.
