What does kutya mean and where did it “come” to us?
Among our ancestors there was an interesting legend about kutya. Ukrainians have long believed that at the beginning of the world, when Eve and Adam ate a treacherous fruit and threw themselves at the Lord's feet to beg for forgiveness, God spoke to them:Arise, your belated repentance! For what you have done, you must now atone and be cleansed from the evil that Satan has done to you. Then you will enter paradise and be with me. This is what I promise you, and because you are weak creatures, a very difficult life awaits you, but I am your Father and I want to help you in this difficult journey.”
