Food prices – potatoes are rapidly becoming more expensive in Ukraine – UNIAN
The rise in prices is attributed to the fact that chains began stocking up for the New Year holidays.
The Ukrainian potato market is witnessing increased trading activity. This was reported by the specialized portal EastFruit.
Now farmers declare prices for vegetables in the range of 22-30 UAH/kg ($0.53-0.72/kg). Compared to last week, this is an average of 22% more expensive.
The rise in prices is attributed to the fact that wholesale companies and retail chains have increased interest in potatoes, as they are already building up stocks for the New Year holidays. Experts do not rule out that prices for the popular vegetable will continue to rise in the future, but they do not expect a sharp price jump.
