At the beginning of December, residents of various regions of Russia can expect the appearance of new five-thousandth banknotes, which can be obtained by withdrawing cash from ATMs. These new banknotes have already begun to arrive in cities such as Moscow, Chelyabinsk, as well as in the Altai and Perm regions. This banknote has an updated design and is intended to replace the old banknotes issued in 1997.

What's new in the new five thousand bill?

The updated banknotes were presented by the Central Bank on October 16, 2023. The main novelty is that the design of the banknotes is now dedicated to the Ural Federal District. The front side of the banknote depicts the “Europe – Asia” stele, symbolizing the border between the continents.
