For the first time, the World Bank allocated a tranche to Ukraine from a fund filled with Russian assets
It is known that the $1 billion that will be included in the tranche is a grant from the World Bank FORTIS Ukraine FIF.
On Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the World Bank's executive board approved the provision of $2.05 billion to Ukraine. For the first time, part of this amount will be covered by a US loan using frozen Russian assets.
This is stated in a press release from the World Bank. The new tranche of financial assistance will include $1.05 billion in loans. Ukraine will receive these funds through the Trust Fund for Ukraine using the resources of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
