Forced women to wear hijab banned in Syria – UNIAN

The command of the armed opposition in Syria has banned forcing women to wear the hijab and allowed them to choose their own clothes, local newspaper Al-Watan reports.
The publication states that the high command “categorically prohibits forcing women to wear a certain style of clothing, interfering with their right to choose, or setting requirements for their appearance.”
Syria has also issued a ban on harassment of media workers.
The penalty for violating these directives is up to one year in prison.
