Fortifications are being built near Zaporizhzhia in anticipation of a Russian offensive – The Economist


Not all Ukrainian military personnel consider an attack on Zaporozhye inevitable.

Near the city of Zaporizhzhia, located 30 kilometers from the front line, fortifications are being carefully built in case of an attack by Russian troops.

This is reported by the British edition of The Economist.

The publication says that no one knows about the time of the offensive, but the construction of fortifications makes some sense.

“As one of the three remaining centers of heavy industry in the country, it is a regional center [Запоріжжя] remains critically important for the survival of Ukraine as a functioning state,” The Economist emphasizes.
