This opinion was expressed by American political scientist Adrian Karatnytskyi in a commentary for “Ukrinform”.

“I think they want a cease-fire, the end of the active phase of the war. It is obvious that both sides accept the existing territorial division, but without recognizing the annexation of the occupied territories by Russia and looking for other ways to return them,” the expert said.

According to him, this is such a “Baltic option”. He explains that America will not recognize the occupied territories as part of Russia and will continue sanctions, but at the same time will delay Ukraine's membership in NATO, “as they say, for 20 years.” According to Karatnytskyi, the Russian conditions for a peaceful settlement will also change.
