Sandoli boats allow tourists to explore the historical sites of Venice.
One of the main symbols of Venice are gondolas. However, tourists have the opportunity to explore the quiet corners of the city on older boats called sandolis, writes the BBC.
Journalists talked to Luca Padoan, who organizes sandolo excursions for tourists. He explained that such boats are the forerunners of gondolas and used to fill the waterways of Venice.
Most often, sandolis are painted black and have a flat bottom, the publication noted. Their characteristic feature is the steel “curls” on the nose.
