How much does 1 kg of potatoes cost in Ukraine?
Potatoes have risen in price by an average of 41% compared to last year.
Selling prices for potatoes in Ukraine began to decline before the New Year. Farmers expected that the vegetable would continue to rise in price, but wholesale buyers see no reason for this, because demand has decreased.
EastFruit analysts noted that today potatoes go on sale in the range of 18-28 UAH/kg ($0.43-0.67/kg), depending on the quality, variety and volume of product batches, which is on average 12% cheaper, than at the end of the last work week.
The reason for the slight decline in prices was not only the weakening demand for potatoes, but also stable imports. It is noted that imported vegetables are of mediocre quality, which affected the rate of sales of local products.
