In order to overcome the consequences of massive Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure and to avoid a crisis of energy supply in the winter period, the Ukrainian authorities are resorting to unconventional measures.

Russian attacks have depleted Ukrainian supplies of equipment for repairing and maintaining power plants.
Since Ukrainian energy facilities were mostly built during the Soviet Union, they depend on spare parts that were not made in the West. Therefore, the largest private energy company of Ukraine, DTEK, began searching for factories in the countries of the former “social camp” and the former Baltic republics of the USSR in order to find compatible spare parts.
