“I don't want to risk and fight”: the Ukrainian volleyball player explained why he did not return after going abroad

Dmytro Shavrak said that he received threats after deciding to leave his homeland.

“Reshetylivka” volleyball player Dmytro Shavrakwhich did not return to Ukraine after the Challenge Cup match in Belgium, commented on his decision.

The athlete said that he does not want to put himself at risk and fight. He also admitted that after deciding not to return to his homeland, he began to receive threats concerning his mother.

In addition, Shavrak said that he loves Ukraine and plans to return home immediately after the end of the war.

“We'll see. I'm also hoping to find a new team, but if that doesn't work out, I might quit volleyball. When I come back to Ukraine, as soon as the war is over, I might be able to go back to Reshetylivka.”
