Silver medalist of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris in artistic gymnastics Ilya Kovtun and his coach Irina Gorbacheva are considering the possibility of changing their sports citizenship. This was reported in Tribuna.com.
It is noted that the 21-year-old native of Cherkasy may begin to play for the Croatian national team. The final decision will be made by 2025.
The publication recalled that Kovtun and Gorbachev spent the entire 2024 preparing for performances in Croatia. After the Olympics in Paris, the athlete has never returned to Ukraine.
Journalists approached Kovtun and Gorbacheva for comment, but never received a response.
