People's deputy Victoria Vagner, a member of the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on National Health, stated this in her article for NV, referring to data from the Ministry of Justice.

According to the Ministry of Justice, 87,655 children were born in Ukraine in the first half of the year (from January to June inclusive) of 2024. This is 9% less than in the first half of 2023, and 1.5 times less than in the same period of 2021. In total, more than 187,000 babies were born in Ukraine in 2023. And this was already the lowest indicator during independence. The year 2024 will break this anti-record,” Vagner said.

For comparison: in 2022, almost 207 thousand children were born, and in 2021 – 277.8 thousand
