In Iceland, the popular Blue Lagoon resort was evacuated due to a volcanic eruption (video)

The town of Grindavik and the Blue Lagoon geothermal resort, which are close to the eruption site, were evacuated.

The volcano in southwest Iceland erupted for the seventh time since December, sending plumes of smoke into the air as bright orange lava splashed to the surface.

The latest eruption – the 10th on the Reykjanes Peninsula since 2021 – began late Wednesday without much warning, the Icelandic Meteorological Office said, according to The Washington Post.
