The head of the UPR intelligence service was born in Odessa in 1886.
In the Razdelnyansky district of the Odessa region, in honor of the soldiers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the village of Pervomaiskoye was renamed to Gurovskoye.
According to the Main Intelligence Directorate, the renaming took place as part of the decolonization process.
“The corresponding decision was made in order to celebrate the important contribution of the Ukrainian intelligence service to the protection of national interests from external threats, strengthening the defense capability of our state and honoring the victories of military intelligence officers,” the statement said.
