Scientists conducted studies in which the new vaccine showed to be much better than the current oral drug PrEP.
Scientists have most likely found a drug against HIV infection. Results from a clinical trial (Purpose-2) led by doctors at Emory University and Grady Health System are reported to show that twice-yearly lenacapavir injections reduce the risk of HIV infection by as much as 96%.
This is what makes the injections significantly more effective than taking oral PrEP every day and visiting the doctor every three months. Moreover, if taken inconsistently, the effectiveness of “old” drugs is significantly reduced.
