A new study has shown that dogs who witness conflicts between family members try to calm down the side they perceive as the victim, Sports.kz reports with reference to the “Championship”.

They are more likely to approach someone they consider to be the injured party, avoiding communication with the aggressor.

Scientists at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina observed 23 dogs of various breeds as their owners acted out family conflicts. The dogs were closely watching what was happening, experiencing stress during a quarrel between the owners.

The experiment consisted of two stages. At first, the owners got into an argument, trying to take away some object located between them. One of the owners began to shout at the other, making a threatening gesture and grabbing the object. After this, both participants sat down, ignoring each other.
