Russia has taken a radical step in the fight against telephone fraud: from December 28, 2024, the government has banned making calls via the Internet to mobile and landline phones. This decision is aimed at eliminating technology that allowed scammers to replace numbers and deceive citizens.

According to the resolution, the license for the transmission of Internet data with the overlay of voice information is excluded from the list of licenses for the provision of communication services. The authorities are confident that this will seriously limit the possibilities of fraudsters, since now data networks will not be able to connect to telephone networks.
