Kavelashvili was inaugurated in Georgia: people again gathered for protests

In the parliament building Georgia the inauguration ceremony of Mykhailo Kavelashvili as the new president was held – he is not recognized by the fifth president Salome Zurabishvili, the opposition and part of the country's international partners.

After the ceremony, mass protests intensified again in Tbilisi. The police started detaining the demonstrators. It is reported that there are victims.
What preceded
Mykhailo Kavelashvili was elected president by the electoral college, which consists of deputies from the ruling party “Georgian Dream”, district sacrebulos (municipal authorities) and Supreme Councils of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara and the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia (in exile).
