Kirov mothers give birth to more boys than girls

On Mother's Day, Kirovstat published birth statistics in the Kirov region for the past 2023.

In our region, during the year, 8,364 women became mothers and gave birth to 8,451 babies, including 86 twins and 1 triplets. More boys were born than girls by 3.6 percent. Most often, babies were born in July (798), and least often in February (640).

The average age of a mother in 2023 was 29 years, and the age at the birth of her first child was 26 years. It is noteworthy that more than 75 percent of babies are born to parents who are officially married.

The most popular names that parents chose for children in 2023: female names – Anna, Sofia and Eva, male ones – Mikhail, Artem and Timofey.
