Kojima said that he wants to avoid long cutscenes in his games – UNIAN

Currently, three of the five longest cutscenes in gaming history are by Kojima.

An archived interview with Hideo Kojima dating back to 1997 has surfaced online. In it, the game designer emphasized that he did not want to bore players with overly long videos and drawn-out dialogues.

He told Famitsu magazine about this at the end of the last century. The game designer noted that from his point of view, the player should remain involved and immersed in the process, and oversaturation of the plot with lengthy inserts can discourage interest:

“I try to avoid boring scenes where characters just talk for minutes at a time, because the player needs to feel constantly involved.”
