Konami only let Kojima make Metal Gear after hearing the sound of enemy detection
Nobody at Konami believed Kojima that the Metal Gear concept could be interesting.
It turns out that the world owes the existence of the Metal Gear series to the sound of Solid Snake being discovered by enemies. Before Hideo Kojima first presented the sound design of the future game, no one at Konami believed that the concept of a stealth action game could be interesting to anyone.
Kojima himself recalls this in a lost interview with Nice Games, which he gave back in 1999, but it was only found now.
