Leopard 1A5 – Germany supplied 58 of 155 tanks for almost two years – UNIAN
The Forbes expert said that the situation has improved greatly in recent months.
It took German industry a full 19 months (from July 2023 to early September 2024) to supply Ukraine with the first 58 Leopard 1A5 tanks out of 155 (!) that Germany pledged to transfer to Ukraine. They first needed to be repaired. However, now the problem of shortage of spare parts has most likely been solved, says journalist David Ax.
In his article for Forbes, he writes that Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium have begun to increase their pace. If by September 2024 Ukraine received 58 Leopard 1A5, then over the past few months another 45 tanks of the 1980s model have been delivered.
At the same time, the journalist notes that the delivery schedule is of considerable importance.
