Lithuania supports France's idea of a possible deployment of troops from Western countries to Ukraine without the permission of all NATO member countries.
This was stated by the Ambassador of Lithuania to NATO, Davidas Matulonis, in a comment to Radio Liberty.
According to him, if Paris makes such a decision, it does not need the permission of the Alliance for this.
“These can be national decisions, a group of countries, a coalition that wants to join this initiative. It is not necessary to have NATO's approval or label,” the Lithuanian diplomat emphasized.
At the same time, Matulonis noted that currently sending Western troops to Ukraine is “just an idea.” Different countries have different suggestions for this.
