Today there are 2 main types on sale salt: loose (with loose granules) and “with lumps“(the granules tend to stick together). Doctor-neurologist Olga Lisenkova explained which of them is safer for health, Sports.kz reports with reference to Hibiny.ru.

To ensure that the salt is free-flowing and does not form lumps, special additives are used – anti-caking agents and leavening agents, the doctor reports. Excessive consumption of such salt, and even more so with the simultaneous use of tablets that also contain a lot of anti-caking agents, can cause harm to the body.

“That’s why I try to buy salt that has lumps,” the doctor shares his experience.

According to her, loose salt cannot be avoided in salt shakers, but only salt with lumps should be used for cooking.

“It’s safer,” the doctor summarizes.
