French President Emmanuel Macron convinced US President-elect Donald Trump to meet with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky in Paris.
Axios writes about this with reference to two sources. It is noted that Trump flew to Paris for the opening of Notre Dame Cathedral. For several days, Macron worked to persuade him to hold a joint meeting with Zelensky.
One of the sources said Trump was initially reluctant to hold the meeting but eventually agreed.
Another source familiar with the meeting said it lasted 45 minutes and was “good and productive.” The source also said that the final decision to hold a trilateral meeting was made shortly before.
