Martial law has been lifted in South Korea


Martial law in the country lasted for about six hours.

The President of South Korea, Yoon Seok-yeol, at a meeting of the country's Cabinet of Ministers, approved a plan to abolish martial law.

Most of the protesters have already left the parliament. However, the leader of the opposition party, Cho Kuk, said that the process is ongoing and the case “is not over.” He also promised to impeach the president.

It will be recalled that on December 3, Yoon Seok-yeol announced the introduction of a state of emergency in South Korea, accusing the opposition of anti-state activities, and also promised to eliminate “anti-state forces”. In response to this, clashes broke out between the military and protesters in Seoul.

The South Korean parliament later voted in favor of a resolution demanding the lifting of martial law.
