Memorial days take place several times a year.
Days of remembrance, which are called parental Saturdays, are tied to the dates of church holidays and fasts. Also, after the transition of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine to a new church style, some dates of memorial days according to the new and old styles differ. We tell you when the memorial days will be in 2025, their customs and prohibitions.
When will parents' Saturdays be in 2025?
It is customary to commemorate the dead on Saturday – it is considered a day of peace and quiet, but sometimes they are commemorated on other days. There are also two days in the church calendar when they remember not only deceased relatives and friends, but also “everyone who has died from time immemorial” – these are Ecumenical Parental Saturdays.
