Men may lose their memory ten years earlier than women if they have weight problems – Health
A group of scientists from Imperial College London found that men with excess weight problems may begin to lose their memory a whole decade earlier than women, reports Sports.kz with reference to the “Championship”.
Dementia most often develops after age 75, but new research published in the Journal of Neurology Neurosurgery & Psychiatry suggests obesity may speed up the process in men.
The team analyzed data from 34,000 adults aged 45 to 82 with obesity, hypertension and type 2 diabetes – factors that increase the risk of developing dementia. They found that in overweight men, the deterioration of brain function begins already at the age of 55–74 years, while in women similar changes occur only a decade later, at the age of 65–74 years.
