This opinion was expressed by the head of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Merz, during an interview with the Rheinische Post newspaper.
According to him, the “largest, literally explosive expenditure item” of the German budget is precisely “aid for citizens”, which is paid not only to Ukrainians.
“We need to turn the system upside down again. The concept of “help for citizens” will disappear. We plan to introduce a new basic social assistance. We will put an end to illegal migration and thus reduce large budget costs,” he said…
