On Friday, December 6, the country’s main New Year tree was lit on Sophia Square in Kyiv. An UNIAN correspondent reports this.
Traditionally, the ceremony was attended by the mayor of the capital, Vitaliy Klitschko. He said that the Christmas tree was decorated with two thousand toys and two kilometers of garlands.
This year, like last year, the tree is artificial and 15 meters high. This year it is snow-white. The pure white color of the Christmas tree symbolizes the beginning of a bright and pure path, reminiscent of the renewal that Christmas and the New Year bring.
This year, the country's main Christmas tree was again installed and decorated at the expense of patrons.
