The publication notes that this statement by the diplomat was made in the context of recent incidents with damage to submarine cables in the Baltic Sea. The head of the German Foreign Ministry does not believe in coincidences and recalls the Russian “shadow fleet”.
“Almost every month, ships damage important submarine cables in the Baltic Sea. Ship crews lower anchors into the water, for no apparent reason stretch them for kilometers along the seabed, and then lose them when they are pulled up,” said Burbock.
