No more than 20 thousand tourists per day will be allowed into Pompeii
The restrictions will come into effect this week.
The Pompeii archaeological park, located near the Italian Naples on the ruins of the ancient Roman city of the same name, destroyed by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, has decided to introduce restrictions on tourists.
As The Independent reports, amid a surge in the number of visits, the park administration is introducing a limit of 20 thousand people who will be allowed to visit the location during the day. At the same time, tickets to Pompeii will now be personalized.
For comparison, in October 2024 alone, almost 500 thousand tourists visited Pompeii, and on the first Sunday of the month, when admission was free, the park received about 36 thousand visitors.
The innovations will come into force next Friday, November 15, 2024.
